Every year, Welcome Collective distributes thousands of items of winter clothing to refugee claimant families. And we need your help!

Winter Ambassadors are essential volunteers who collect winter outerwear from their networks for several weeks. At the end of their ambassadorship, Welcome Collective picks up the donations from the ambassador’s home, business, or school. Welcome Collective also provides ongoing support and check-ins to make your ambassadorship a success!

Please note that Winter Ambassadors who sign up after November 15th, 2023 will receive a pick-up of items in January 2024. Our truck schedule is full!

FAQ: Winter Ambassadors

  • Anybody! Individuals, kids, families, neighbours, businesses, schools, classes, organisations – anyone who wants to get involved to help refugee claimant families stay warm this winter.

  • Welcome Collective will provide you with an Ambassador kit which includes printable posters, graphics for social media, and a how-to guide with tips for a successful ambassadorship. We will also will help spread the word about your work! And of course, we’ll pick up your donations when you are finished.

  • All of the items collected by Winter Ambassadors will go to refugee claimant families who have arrived in Montreal in the past several weeks or months. These families do not have the financial means to purchase winter items and will be experiencing their first Canadian winter.

  • Winter Ambassadors collect winter coats, winter boots, kids’ snowsuits and snow pants, and accessories like scarves, mittens, gloves, and hats. You should not accept any other items like sweaters, rain boots, etc. Items should be in good condition and not torn or ripped.

  • We will gladly accept your donations! Head on over to the Item Donations page to submit a donation offer.
